Kadima Begum, 19, is a Resourcer within the operations team at Baxter Personnel’s head office. Kadima has worked for the business for just over a year and has already made immense progress in learning what it takes to source the perfect candidates and work within the recruitment industry. We asked Kadima some questions about her career, and here is what she had to say...
What was your background before joining Baxter Personnel?
I was a HR Apprentice at Darlington Borough Council, where I provided administrative support to the HR team and successfully completed my NVQ Level 2 & 3 in business and administration with Darlington College.
What influenced your decision to join Baxter Personnel?
Coming from a Human Resource background and having a lot of skills and knowledge about the admin side of things. I researched about Baxter Personnel and heard good reviews about the business from previous employees and I felt as though joining Baxter Personnel would be a perfect opportunity for me, and the next big step to develop my career.
What do you enjoy most about working at Baxter Personnel?
The atmosphere itself is great at Baxter Personnel. What I enjoy the most is communicating with a lot of potential candidates on a daily basis, giving them an opportunity to tell me why they would be suitable for a job and knowing that if I was to put them forward, and they were successful for a position, it would be all down to me making that phone call. It’s great to offer people opportunities to get jobs, progress and develop their careers.
How would you describe company culture and working environment at Baxter Personnel?
At Baxter Personnel each individual works hard, and aims to meet their set targets. The enthusiasm and self-motivation of all the staff is evident on a daily basis and it really does pay off for them at the end of each month/year. There is an incentive scheme, 'Employee of the Month' and also 'Employee of the Year', giving staff even more motivation to generate great results.
We work as a team, we motivate and support each other as much as we can. Each colleague plays an important part in the business and because of this, Baxter Personnel is growing rapidly.
Where do you see yourself in the future moving forward with Baxter Personnel?
The next big career step for me in Baxter Personnel would be to become a recruitment consultant. I would like to have a more interactive relationship with the candidates I meet, helping them along the way to success. Also, another big step for me would be to meet the clients in person and create a formal relationship between them to enable me to have an even better understanding of their needs to deliver results.
